Kim Joon, Cool Flower Boy
KOREAN rapper-actor Kim Joon might be the "always-forgotten member" of the famous F4 in this year's hit drama Boys Over Flowers (BOF), but he is unfazed.
The 24-year-old, who plays quiet Song Woo Binin the show, is admittedly not as celebrated as his fellow F4 members.
Little-known Lee Min Ho, 22, (who plays hot-headed Gu Jun Pyo) has become a massive star, while co-star Kim Bum, 20, gathered a female following for his role as the boyishly handsome playboy So Yi Jung.
Kim Hyun Joong, 23, who plays soft-spoken Yoon Ji Hoo, was already famous for being the leader of boyband SS501.
Said Kim Joon to my paper in a recent phone interview: "Yes, it is possible (that I am the forgotten member), because I have acted in only one drama. It doesn't really bother me if people say that," he said.
Post-BOF, Kim's star is on the rise, though."There are people who recognise me on the road and approach me," said Kim, who is also in a three-member K-pop group T-Max.
The trio, which includes Shin Min Chul, 27, and Park Yun Hwa, 23, will perform at the one-night Korean festival, Sundown Festival - Seoul'd Out! 2009, at Fort Canning Park on Saturday.
The J-pop-inspired band debuted two years ago. This will be its first visit to Singapore.
The band can credit the show for boosting its popularity.
T-Max was the band behind the theme song, Paradise.
Does Kim mind being thrust into the spotlight? He said: "I don't really think of it as a (form of) stress. It means the public has a lot of interest in me, and that is a good sign."
And, with T-Max's latest album ready for release some time next February, he does not have any plans for acting at the moment.
